Did you know that the National Day of Prayer is an annual observance day which is observed on the first Thursday in the month of May?

On this day, Americans are encouraged to give thanks and to turn to God in prayer and peaceful meditation. It is a day that has been traditionally controversial because some people believe that it is a violation of the Constitution’s separation of church and state. In fact, it faced a court challenge in 2011 from the Freedom From Religion Foundation, but that challenge was unsuccessful. http://www.holidayscalendar.com/event/national-day-of-prayer/
